In a recent address at Chamarajanagar, Karnataka's Minister of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Sciences, K Venkatesh, openly supported the government's controversial decision to raise the prices of milk and curds by Rs 4 per litre.

While speaking to reporters, the minister underscored that the price hike is aimed at supporting farmers and enhancing their income generation. He addressed the concerns that this decision is part of a broader scheme, clarifying that it is independent of any other guarantee schemes.

Venkatesh pointedly criticized opposition parties, particularly the BJP, for their objections to the milk price increase, while remaining silent on the petrol price hike, which currently stands at Rs 103 per litre.

This decision is part of a governmental directive to all milk unions to increase the procurement prices, effectively boosting payments to farmers.
