Mexico's annual production of 41.4 million tonnes of animal feed makes it the fifth largest producer globally, according to Alltech's Agri-Food Outlook report.

According to the 2024 report by Alltech, a bioengineering company, Mexico has emerged as the fifth largest producer of animal feed worldwide, producing 41.4 million tonnes annually. This marks a 1.4% increase from 2023. Mexico's ranking falls just behind China, the United States, Brazil, and India.
The growth has been attributed to a strengthened layer poultry feed sector. However, the swine feed sector experienced a decline due to health challenges, such as the Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome, and increased pork imports from the United States. The dairy cattle feed sector in Latin America saw a 3.8% rise, bolstering the outlook for 2025, with internal consumption driving growth in Mexico's poultry segment.
