Mexico and US Form Committee to Combat Cattle Parasite
In a significant step towards combating the Screwworm infestation affecting cattle in both Mexico and the United States, private sector organizations and government officials from both nations have formed the Binational Committee Against the Cattle Screwworm.

This pest, which has led to concerns of border closures and other economic impacts, necessitated joint action to mitigate its spread and impact. According to Homero García de la Llata, President of the National Confederation of Livestock Organizations (CNOG), technical experts from the US Department of Agriculture, along with ranchers and fatteners from the US, participated in the establishment of the committee. Mexican ranchers, USDA officials, and authorities from the National Service for Health, Safety, and Agro-Food Quality (Senasica) were also present, alongside a delegation of Canadian ranchers.

During the event held in Aguascalientes, García de la Llata highlighted the urgency of addressing this issue, which poses a strategic challenge amid climate change and international trade adjustments. The new federal administration's cooperation in reaching sustainable agreements without resorting to social media disputes was also noted.
