The move aims to address the aging infrastructure of the Nishi Shunbetsu and Honbetsu plants, facilitating stable dairy product provision while elevating the value of products for domestic and international markets.

The new 230,258-square-meter facility, operational by March 2027, will boast a production capacity of 430,000 tons of raw milk per year, with plans for expansion to 500,000 tons annually. Meiji emphasizes the integration of sustainable practices, seeking Halal certification for exports and incorporating IoT and automation for enhanced productivity and a comfortable work environment.

The investment will prioritize "labour reduction," implement new technology to reduce carbon emissions and groundwater drainage by 50%, and introduce innovative production methods. Meiji's strategic approach aims to fortify its core business, stimulate demand, and enhance overseas export capabilities.
