Lactalis Opens New High-Capacity Distribution Centre in Christchurch, New Zealand
Lactalis New Zealand has officially opened its new distribution centre in Christchurch, marking a substantial investment in the company's supply chain capability on the South Island. The facility, developed in collaboration with Calder Stewart and referred to as The Yard, is designed to integrate fresh milk, as well as chilled, frozen, and ambient dairy operations, into a single, modern location. This move aims to strengthen distribution across the South Island and aid customers both domestically and globally.
Capacity and Infrastructure Expansion
The Yard is equipped as a high-capacity, future-ready hub that significantly boosts storage capacity and optimizes inbound and outbound freight operations. This enhancement is targeted at reducing complexity within the South Island network and ensuring quicker and more reliable deliveries.
Lactalis New Zealand's chief executive, Pascal Francisque, highlighted that the new Christchurch distribution centre is a reflection of the company's long-term dedication to improving its operations in New Zealand. "This facility is an important step in strengthening how we operate across the South Island. Our immediate focus has been ensuring a smooth transition and maintaining reliable service for customers," Francisque stated.

The development of this purpose-built facility was achieved through a partnership with Calder Stewart, a testament to their shared commitment to quality.
