Lactalis Canada has expressed strong support for the Federal-Provincial and Territorial Ministers of Agriculture's announcement regarding the implementation of a Grocery Code of Conduct in the country.
Mark Taylor, President and Chief Executive Officer of Lactalis Canada, emphasized the importance of this initiative. "A Grocery Code of Conduct is beneficial for business—both for suppliers and retailers, but ultimately for Canadian consumers," said Taylor. "Having experienced the advantages of a Grocery Code in the U.K. and now actively participating in the development of Canada's industry-led Grocery Code of Conduct, we recognize this as a significant milestone in creating a stronger, more resilient, and sustainable grocery supply chain for Canadians."
According to a press release, Lactalis Canada has proactively identified internal opportunities to align with the new Code environment, collaborating with its retail customers to develop joint solutions that adhere to the spirit and principles of the Grocery Code of Conduct. This approach aims to benefit consumers, particularly in light of the rising food insecurity in Canada.
