Sudbury, Ontario: Last week, Lactalis Canada celebrated the grand reopening of its Sudbury facility, now home to the company's new plant-based Enjoy! brand. According to a company-issued press release, the event marked a significant milestone in Lactalis Canada's commitment to plant-based products and included employee celebrations, a tree planting ceremony, and remarks from Lactalis Canada President & CEO Mark Taylor, along with other company executives, government, and community partners.
Established in 1962 and located at 500 Barry Downe Road, the Sudbury facility served as a fully operational milk processing plant for six decades. In 2022, Lactalis Canada embarked on an ambitious renovation project to convert the site into a 33,150 sq. ft., state-of-the-art plant-based facility. Reopened in April 2024, this facility is now dedicated to producing Lactalis Canada’s new plant-based Enjoy! brand—a nutritious, unsweetened, high-protein line of plant-based beverages.
The celebration underscored the importance of this transformation for both the company and the local community. President & CEO Mark Taylor expressed enthusiasm about the plant's new direction and its potential impact. “We are proud to celebrate the reopening of our Sudbury facility as a dedicated plant-based production site. This transformation represents our commitment to innovation and sustainability in the dairy and plant-based sectors,” said Taylor.
The event highlighted Lactalis Canada’s ongoing economic and social contributions to the Sudbury region, reflecting the company's broader strategy of embracing plant-based alternatives to meet evolving consumer preferences. The Sudbury plant's reopening positions Lactalis Canada at the forefront of the plant-based beverage market, further cementing its role as a key player in the industry.
With its new Enjoy! brand, Lactalis Canada aims to provide consumers with delicious, nutritious, and sustainable plant-based options, reinforcing its dedication to both health and environmental sustainability. The company looks forward to continuing its legacy of excellence and innovation from its newly revamped Sudbury facility.
