Speaking at the XV Dairy Olympics, Kevin Bellamy, an international dairy consultant from the Netherlands, highlighted India's significant growth prospects over the next 40 years, which are expected to outpace other developing countries.
"Income levels in the population will continue to grow. The country has not yet reached its peak of growth - it's still to come," the expert pointed out.
This year, India is set to account for 25% of the global milk production volume. Estimates suggest that there are 80-90 million farms in the country, with an average of 2-5 animals per household. Of the products from such households, 25% are processed and sold in the market. Currently, such small-scale household farms dominate the sector.
