Every Second Liter of Milk in Ukraine Meets EU Hygiene Standards
One of the key outcomes of the partnership has been the implementation of the Raw Milk Control Program, which ensures milk meets quality and safety requirements.
The program began in 2015 as a pilot project involving 15 producers, 4 laboratories, and 4 regional branches. Today, it encompasses over 1000 market operators, 54 authorized laboratories, 500 sample collection specialists, and 200 inspectors. This scale has allowed the creation of a control system in the country comparable to the European one.
"The results of the Swiss-Ukrainian cooperation are remarkable. In 2015, only 7% of milk met the 'extra' class, but now this figure has risen to 55%. This indicates profound structural changes and the sector's alignment with European standards," noted Marko Kreuchi, program manager at the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO).
An important part of the reforms has been the update of legislation regulating the dairy sector, as well as the creation of the IT platform "Dairy Module," which ensures transparent monitoring of laboratory analyses and strengthens trust among market participants.
