Kazakhstan Registers Four Breeding Achievements of Baisary Sheep

In Kazakhstan, the state approval of breeding achievements of the Baisary meat-fat sheep breed has been completed. As a result of the tests, two intra-breed types and two ram breeding lines received official recognition and patents.

The evaluation was conducted in the Turkestan, Zhambyl, and Almaty regions. The work was organized by the State Commission of the State Inspection Committee in the agro-industrial complex, with scientific support provided by the Republican Chamber of Sheep Breeding for meat-fat direction.

In the Turkestan region, specialists examined about 7,300 highly productive animals of the Turkestan intra-breed type. The assessment took place in the Baydibek, Sairam, and Saryagash districts, as well as in the area of the city of Arys. The breeding stock was located in the farms "Nurbulat", "Molshylyq", "Siyaband", "Kuanysh", IP "Taukeev N.M." and LLP "MUBARAK AGRO".

Simultaneously, the commission studied two ram lines: No. 00452 "Million" and No. 5042 "Deputat". The live weight of the founder of the "Million" line reached 231 kg; this result is recorded in the Kazakhstan Book of Records.

In the Zhambyl and Almaty regions, more than 3,500 heads of the Zhetysu intra-breed type underwent approval. In the Zhambyl region, animals were evaluated in the Korday, Shu, and Merken districts, as well as in the T. Ryskulov district. The work was carried out on the basis of the farms "Alpamys", "Bigazy", "Beksultan", "Alizhan", "Baksha-Saray" and "Aibek". In the Almaty region, the examination took place in the Karasay district and the city of Konaev, in the farms "Nur and K", "Kydyraliev" and IP "Li V.A.".

The approval considered the number of animals and key productivity indicators. The Baisary breed belongs to the meat-fat direction. The weight of adult breeding rams usually ranges from 140–180 kg, with some individuals exceeding 200 kg, and the meat yield is in the range of 53–56%.

As a result of the state tests, the Zhetysu intra-breed type was assigned patent number 1292, and the Turkestan type was assigned number 1293. The "Million" ram line was registered under number 1294, and the "Deputat" line under number 1295. The Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan reported that the results of the approval confirmed the compliance of the achievements with established requirements. They intend to use them in further breeding work to improve the productive and breeding characteristics of the breed.
