From 2013 to 2023, the Republic of Kazakhstan imported 187,000 head of breeding cattle. The total cost of purchases amounted to 310 million US dollars. This was announced by Mikhail Mishchenko, Director of the Center for Studying the Dairy Market, based on open industry data.

The peak year was 2019, when 45,000 head were imported as part of the state program for the development of beef cattle breeding – the largest volume for the entire observation period.

Supplier countries:

⦁ Russia – the largest supplier over 10 years: about 40,000 head

⦁ Australia – 30,500 head

⦁ USA – 30,316 head

"However, if you combine all European countries, the EU has supplied a total of 68,800 head of breeding cattle to the Republic of Kazakhstan," Mikhail Mishchenko noted.

2023 dynamics:

⦁ 11,411 head of breeding cattle were imported.

⦁ Russia was the largest supplier, providing 30% of the total volume.

⦁ Australia and the Czech Republic ranked second and third, respectively.

⦁ Total import costs amounted to 28.6 million US dollars.

Interestingly, in 2013, Denmark was the leading supplier, but in recent years, priority has been given to closer or economically optimal destinations.
