At the operational headquarters for the harvesting campaign, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Serik Zhumangarin, the possibilities of expanding the export of Kazakh grain, especially to China and Afghanistan, were discussed.
This is reported by Dairynews.today with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
According to JSC NC KTZ, from January to September 2024, the total volume of grain shipments amounted to 6.6 million tons, which is 21% less than in the same period last year. However, the supply of milling products, on the contrary, increased by 21% and reached 2.7 million tons.
The main markets for the export of Kazakh grain are Central Asia, China and Afghanistan, the ministry notes. In particular, 1.3 million tons of grain were shipped to China, and supplies of barley and forage crops continue to grow throughout the country.
Serik Zhumangarin noted that Kazakhstan plans to increase grain supplies to China to 3 million tons and increase flour exports to Afghanistan, which will be an important topic of the upcoming business forum in Almaty.
