In an extensive consultation meeting, Commissioner Karachi engaged with representatives of dairy farmers, wholesalers, and retailers to discuss and deliberate the necessary price adjustment.

Following thorough discussions, a mutual agreement was achieved to implement a Rs 20 per litre hike. Consequently, the retail price of milk is now established at Rs 220 per litre, a significant increase from previous rates.

Under the revised pricing structure, retail milk is priced at Rs 220 per litre, with the farm rate set at Rs 195 per litre and the wholesale price at Rs 205 per litre.

An official notification regarding this price increase is anticipated to be issued later today.

This adjustment follows initial demands from dairy farmers for a farm rate of Rs 250 per litre and a retail price of Rs 297 per litre. The final agreement represents a compromise among the various stakeholders involved.

To ensure adherence to the new pricing structure, Commissioner Karachi has secured written affidavits from dairy farmers, wholesalers, and retailers, committing to the strict enforcement of the new official prices.

The official rates will be prominently displayed at all milk shops, and wholesalers are mandated to provide invoices to retailers based on sales price and quantity, thereby ensuring transparency and quality control.

The stakeholders have assured Commissioner Karachi that there will be no further demands for a price increase until December 31, 2024. Additionally, they have pledged their cooperation with the administration to enforce the new official milk prices.
