Indian Government Commits to Empowering Farmers in Rajasthan
Empowering Farmers Through Infrastructure Improvements
In a recent announcement, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma of Rajasthan has emphasized the state government's commitment to bolstering the empowerment of farmers and livestock owners by significantly enhancing their access to essential resources such as water and electricity. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to promote agricultural sustainability and energy self-reliance in the region.
Major Financial Commitments and Projects
Addressing a pre-budget meeting with key stakeholders, Sharma highlighted the signing of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) worth Rs 2.24 lakh crore aimed at achieving energy self-reliance by 2027. This ambitious plan includes ensuring that farmers receive electricity during daylight hours, thus facilitating more efficient farming operations. The state has also made strides in supporting female farmers by distributing over 3.2 million free seed minikits.
Financial Support for Livestock Farmers
Sharma further disclosed that under the Rajasthan Cooperative Gopal Credit Card Loan Scheme, livestock farmers engaging in dairy activities are eligible for interest-free short-term loans up to Rs 1 lakh. These loans aim to assist with the purchase of dairy-related equipment, fodder, and other essential items, supported by the Chief Minister Dairy Producer Assistance Scheme through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
