Farmer-owned dairy co-operative, First Milk, has achieved remarkable success at the British & Irish Cheese Awards, securing 12 medals for its Golden Hooves and BV Dairy brands. Marking its first anniversary of acquiring BV Dairy, First Milk celebrated with a "clean sweep of accolades" for Golden Hooves' line of regenerative farmed cheeses.
BV Dairy also impressed with awards on its debut. They planted 365 trees at Woodhouse Farm to symbolize their sustainability commitment. Golden Hooves' entire cheese range, known for its high quality from regeneratively farmed milk, received Silver awards for Mature Cheddar, Vintage Cheddar, Smoked Cheddar, and Red Leicester, and a Bronze for Double Gloucester.
BV Dairy’s Dorset-based operations earned Gold for Clotted Cream, Stirred Greek Style Yogurt, and Soft Cheeses, while their 3% Fat Natural Yogurt earned a Bronze. These are supplied to top chefs and renowned brands in the UK, with products made from First Milk's and Red Tractor Farm Assured farms' milk.
Despite BV Dairy's nascent regenerative journey, it joins Golden Hooves in balancing quality with environmental and social initiatives. Leona McDonald, director, commended the harmony of ethical goals with cheesemaking, expressing excitement for the future as more consumers access quality regenerative dairy.
