General Mills Ends Häagen-Dazs Distribution in Brazil
Häagen-Dazs products are no longer being distributed in Brazil, according to confirmation from General Mills, the American owner of the premium ice-cream brand. The change was reported on 25 August 2026 and means that the brand will no longer be supplied to Brazilian points of sale through its existing distribution operation.
The withdrawal is connected to a broader portfolio reorganisation announced by General Mills in March. The company included the Brazilian market in the process that led it to discontinue Häagen-Dazs’s presence there. General Mills did not disclose the specific criteria used for the decision.
Distribution has already stopped. Retailers that still have Häagen-Dazs products are therefore selling stock acquired before the supply ended. The company has not provided information on the volume of remaining inventory or on how long products may continue to be available in individual shops.
General Mills has also not explained how Brazil fitted into the brand’s wider strategy before the decision, or how that position changed during the portfolio review. No additional operational details about the termination of local distribution were provided.
The company has not set out a medium-term plan for Häagen-Dazs in Brazil. It has not said whether the brand could return through a local partner, a distribution arrangement sometimes used by international brands that leave direct operations in a particular market. For now, the confirmed measures are the portfolio review, the discontinuation decision and the end of distribution in Brazil.
