According to the office of Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickramasinghe, agreements on this were reached during a meeting of the Sri Lankan head of state with the founder of the American company Microsoft Bill Gates on the sidelines of the 28th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) in Dubai.

“Bill Gates expressed the BMGF’s commitment to supporting Sri Lanka in building a strong and climate-resilient nation and promised to deepen cooperation with Colombo in modernizing agriculture and creating a digital data system for this sector of the Sri Lankan economy and social sphere,” Ranil’s office said in a statement Wickramasinghe.

The Co-Chairman of the BMGF assured that the Foundation intends to carry out broad scientific and technical innovation cooperation with Sri Lanka and all countries of the world, and actively participate in promoting responses to global challenges such as climate change and epidemics.

The World Climate Summit, with the participation of leaders from more than 140 countries, is taking place in Dubai from November 30 to December 12. The main objective of the climate summit is to analyze progress towards achieving the goals of the 2015 Paris Agreement and to develop a global plan for the international community to achieve climate goals.
