Fen Farm Dairy Launches New Cheese, Revives East Anglian Legacy

More than a decade since the introduction of their renowned Baron Bigod cheese, Fen Farm Dairy has delighted cheese enthusiasts with the announcement of a new addition to their culinary creations for 2025.

Introducing Raedwald

Fen Farm Dairy, situated in Bungay, has named this new cheese "Raedwald," pronounced "Redwold." It pays homage to a traditional French Reblochon, which is a soft cheese crafted from raw cow's milk. The name Raedwald is derived from an Anglo-Saxon king who ruled over early Suffolk and Norfolk between 599AD and 624AD. Though historical records about him are scarce, there is speculation among archaeologists that his tomb may lie at the historic site of Sutton Hoo.

A Seasonal Delight

This seasonal rind-washed cheese is a creation of the Crickmore family farm, renowned for its authenticity and adherence to tradition. Fen Farm Dairy plans to produce Raedwald only during the winters, from January to April, utilizing the rich, high-cream milk that their cows naturally produce during these months.

The Legacy of Baron Bigod

This introduction follows the success of their first product, Baron Bigod, which continues to be available throughout the year. Baron Bigod was recently honored as the best British cheese brand of 2023-2024 in Fine Food Digest's Best Brands Survey, marking a significant achievement for the second consecutive year.
