Expo Bacia Leiteira Expands and Attracts New Agricultural Sectors

The 2026 edition of Expo Bacia Leiteira will be held at Parque Mair Amaral in Batalha, Alagoas, from October 14th to 18th. The event traditionally focuses on dairy cattle and the milk industry, but producers from other agricultural activities have shown interest in taking part.

André Ramalho, president of Sindileite-AL, said that sheep and goat breeders had already indicated an interest in participating and having dedicated areas to present and assess their animals. The organisers said this could lead to a broader format for the fair at a later stage.

Dairy farming will remain the event’s main focus. Ramalho said the exhibition highlights the importance of the activity in Alagoas and across the Northeast, where new dairy industries are arriving. He also said industrial expansion should be accompanied by support for farmers.

That support, according to Ramalho, includes technical development, access to information, technology and training. The event’s programme is intended to combine innovation, exchanges of experience and professional education for producers and companies connected to the dairy sector.

The organisers have also pointed to the need to broaden productive opportunities in the semi-arid region. Dairy, beef, cattle, pig and poultry activities form part of the same productive base, Ramalho said, and face shared requirements, including the production of quality food at competitive costs.

Expo Bacia Leiteira will also address genetics, market trends and agricultural technology. The exhibition provides a venue for presenting changes in livestock genetics and new developments reaching farms, while the participation of other breeders could increase the exchange of knowledge among different agricultural chains.
