The EU has significantly reduced corn imports

According to the European Commission, in the period from July 1 to December 3, 2023/24. European Union countries imported just over 7 million tons of corn, down 43% from the previous season (12.8 million tons).
Imports of corn from Ukraine fell especially significantly - to 3.79 million tons compared to 5.6 million tons last year, but the share of Ukrainian corn in the total supply increased from 44% to 52%.
The European Union also significantly reduced imports of corn from Brazil to 2.7 million tons, which is 2.3 times less than the previous period (6.3 million tons). The share of supplies from Brazil decreased from 49% to 37%.
The main volumes of corn imports from EU countries this season were carried out by Spain (3.3 million tons), the Netherlands (870 thousand tons) and Italy (768 thousand tons).
