Empowering Excellence: Abu Dhabi’s Al Qou’a Dairy Plant Pioneers Inclusion and Sustainability
The plant, located within the Al Qou’a Centre, stands as a testament to the UAE’s unwavering commitment to fostering the inclusion of People of Determination in all aspects of life. Fully operated by individuals with disabilities, it exemplifies the potential of creating specialised career pathways that bolster skills, enhance confidence, and contribute to the broader national economy.
A Model of Inclusion
Six employees, all People of Determination, currently lead the plant’s operations. These individuals have undergone rigorous training, equipping them with the expertise required to excel in dairy production. This initiative not only highlights their abilities but also provides a nurturing environment where they can engage with the wider community and demonstrate their value in the workforce.
Subha Al Darai, Director of the Al Qou’a Care and Rehabilitation Centre, emphasised the transformative impact of the plant. “By supporting local entrepreneurship and creating markets for locally-produced dairy products, the facility plays a pivotal role in strengthening the national economy. It also serves as a catalyst for sustainable development by encouraging farmers and ranchers in the Al Qou’a region to supply milk.”
Future Horizons: Innovation with Camel Milk
Looking ahead, the Al Qou’a Dairy Products Plant is set to expand its operations by venturing into the production of cheese made from camel milk. This aligns with the UAE’s vision for sustainability, showcasing the facility’s commitment to innovation in both the agricultural and industrial sectors.
A Step Towards Sustainability
The plant forms part of the “Made in UAE” initiative, a national programme aimed at boosting local manufacturing and diversifying the economy. This initiative underscores the UAE’s broader ambition to foster sustainability and inclusivity across all sectors.
As the region’s first facility of its kind, the Al Qou’a Dairy Products Plant is more than just a producer of labneh; it is a beacon of hope, inclusion, and sustainability. By creating opportunities for People of Determination, supporting local agriculture, and innovating for the future, it embodies the spirit of a nation dedicated to progress and equality.
For Abu Dhabi and beyond, the success of Al Qou’a sets a compelling precedent—showcasing how a vision for inclusion can translate into measurable achievements, transforming lives while contributing to the economic and social fabric of a nation.
