Dodla Dairy has submitted a regulatory clarification concerning milk testing at its Batlagundu plant in Tamil Nadu. The company said differing laboratory findings involved a sample examined after its best-before date and reported no operational or financial effect from the matter.
Dodla Dairy Clarifies Conflicting Milk-Test Reports

Dodla Dairy Limited filed the clarification with the National Stock Exchange of India and BSE under Regulation 30 of the Securities and Exchange Board of India’s listing-disclosure rules. The filing followed media reports about an inquiry by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India concerning enforcement communications related to the company’s processing facility in Batlagundu, in Nilakottai Taluk, Dindigul district.

The company said the issue had not affected milk collection, production or commercial distribution. Its disclosure described the matter as a dispute over sampling and laboratory analysis, with the relevant testing carried out earlier in 2026 at two authorised facilities.

Food-safety officers collected a 500-millilitre sample of packaged full-cream milk from the Nilakottai plant on January 9. The product carried a best-before date of January 12. A primary accredited laboratory issued its assessment on January 20, classifying the sample as below standard on one physical measure: milk-fat content. That report said it found no chemical adulterants, including synthetic detergents or neutralising agents.

Dodla Dairy appealed the result under the applicable procedure, after which the sealed sample was sent to the National Food Laboratory in Navi Mumbai. The laboratory’s analysis took place from March 10 to March 16, and its report was issued on March 20. It recorded the qualitative presence of detergent residues, differing from the earlier laboratory’s findings. The company challenged the use of a sample tested roughly two months after the product’s best-before date and submitted a formal representation on the issue.

Dodla Dairy said the sample’s condition was relevant to the interpretation of the second report because the milk had passed its stated date before the referral analysis. The disclosure set out the chronology of collection, initial testing, appeal and subsequent examination but did not report any change to the company’s daily operations.

The company reported quarterly consolidated revenue of ₹1,198 crore and average milk procurement of 21.1 lakh litres a day. It also described itself as net debt-free. Its business includes packaged curd, paneer, flavoured milk and clarified butter, while the company has invested in brands including Sids Farm and expanded processing capacity in East Africa.

Dodla Dairy procures milk from farming households in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. Its operations include cattle-feed manufacturing, village-level collection and scheduled payments to suppliers. The company’s disclosure placed the laboratory dispute alongside its broader quality-assurance and regulatory-compliance activities.
