Dmitry Patrushev Announces New Agricultural Support Measures
The government has developed a new set of tools to support workers in the agricultural sector. The measures were announced by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev. The package includes subsidies, credit instruments, preferential leasing measures, and direct aid to agricultural producers.
The cabinet plans to allocate an additional tranche to subsidize the transportation of products by rail. At the same time, it is proposed to extend short-term concessional loans and payments on preferential leasing agreements. The announcement does not specify the size of the new tranche or the duration of these measures.
The government is also considering additional subsidies for new short-term loans. These funds are intended for the purchase of grain from producers. The Ministry of Agriculture may increase the credit limit per borrower. The specific size of the potential change was not disclosed by the Deputy Prime Minister.
“Finally, direct subsidies will be provided to farmers in the form of so-called per-hectare support,” said Dmitry Patrushev. The source does not provide information on the amount of payments, the order of their distribution, or the list of crops covered by this mechanism.
Patrushev also reminded that by October, the state will purchase up to 3 million tons of grain for the state intervention fund. The message does not specify which part of the purchases will fall on individual producers or regions.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, the listed measures should help stabilize prices in the domestic market, including through exports. The assessment of the support package's duration and its overall funding is not given in the message.
