Dairy Milk India's new ad on North-South language divide is viral. It’s easy to see why

Cadbury Dairy Milk India has launched its new leg of advertisement campaigns, and one of the ad videos has especially delighted the internet. The reason? The video addressed the North-South language divide with a simple yet thoughtful message.
The ad follows a group of seemingly Hindi-speaking women chatting when a new neighbour, a woman from Chennai, joins them. With limited knowledge of Hindi, she initially struggles to keep up with the conversation and seemingly feels out of place.
However, one of the women, noticing her discomfort, switches to English in her own way to make her feel included. The new neighbour starts feeling at ease as the conversation flows.
The ad attempted to depict that a little kindness is all it takes to bridge gaps – language need not be a barrier to connection.
Online, the ad has earned praise for its refreshing take on inclusivity. "I don't get the North-South language politics. But I do get great advertising. Dairy Milk India always hits the right notes," a user said on X. Another user added, "My God! What a beautiful ad by Dairy Milk India. Marketing team deserves a raise."
A section of the internet found the message particularly relevant. "How beautifully Dairy Milk showed a mirror to all of us. We communicate 'little little… Thoda Thoda', and still be 'very sweet' and accepting," one of the users said.
