Dairy Price Dynamics in Ukraine for June 2025

In June 2025, Ukraine's dairy market witnessed varied price changes across different products, as reported by the Milk Producers Association. Certain staple items such as milk in film, kefir in carton packages and glass, acid-set cheese, and Suluguni cheese became more affordable, contrasting with other segments that saw notable increases.

Pasteurized milk with a fat content of up to 2.6% sold in film packaging averaged UAH 45.65/kg, marking a 2% decrease from the previous month but a 17% increase year-over-year. Conversely, the same milk in a plastic bottle rose slightly by 0.3% from May, priced at UAH 63.81/kg - a 24% increase from June 2024.

Kefir, with a 2.5% fat content in film packaging, increased by 1% month-over-month to UAH 55.54/kg, representing a 17% rise compared to the previous year. Sour cream at 15% fat content also climbed by 2%, costing an average of UAH 191.13/kg, which equates to a 37% year-on-year increase.

Drinking yogurt prices ranged between 1.6% to 2.8% fat content in plastic bottles, averaging UAH 116.44/kg, showing a 1.9% monthly increase and a substantial 25% annual rise.

Though acid-set cheese decreased by 3% monthly to UAH 279.80/kg, it still dwarfed last year’s price by 25%. Butter, spanning 72.5% to 73% fat content, escalated by 1.9% from the previous month, costing UAH 584.82/kg, representing a record 39% increase on last year.

Cheese also faced steep increases, with Dutch and Gouda varieties rising by 2% and 1% monthly, landing at UAH 590.64/kg and UAH 593.14/kg respectively, registering over 30% annual surges.

Overall, analyst Heorhiy Kukhaleishvili from the Association attributed these trends to broader economic factors that saw an average price increase of 2.9% for dairy products, except for a few that decreased.
