Conaprole is receiving nearly six million litres of milk a day in October, about 7% more than in the same period of 2025. The increase follows several months of double-digit growth, while the cooperative’s rolling 12-month intake remains 12.5% higher.
Conaprole Receives Six Million Litres Daily as Growth Slows

Uruguay’s largest dairy processor has recorded an average daily milk intake of close to six million litres so far in October, according to figures reported by Blasina y Asociados. The volume is approximately 7% above the level recorded in the same period last year, keeping Conaprole’s intake in positive territory while marking a slower pace of expansion than earlier in 2026.

Over the latest 12-month period, milk deliveries to the cooperative have increased by 12.5%. Gabriel Valdés, Conaprole’s general manager, has said that the larger supply requires the company to strengthen industrial capacity, financing and its efforts to find overseas markets. The October figure therefore comes as the cooperative continues to handle a materially larger volume of milk than a year earlier.

Data from Uruguay’s National Dairy Institute, or INALE, cited by the source showed that national milk deliveries rose by about 2% year on year in September. That followed five consecutive months in which growth had reached double digits. Conaprole’s October increase is stronger than September’s, but remains below the rates recorded during much of the year.

The cooperative has also reported a change in the timing of seasonal production. The spring peak traditionally had a strong expression in October, whereas Conaprole now observes a tendency for the maximum to arrive around the middle of September. Sources cited by Conexión Agropecuaria said that September rainfall created muddy conditions on some farms and affected animal comfort. They also noted that the impact varied by area, even where pasture and feed reserves were available.

Receiving about six million litres a day requires milk to be processed rapidly. Some of the supply is sold domestically, while other volumes are turned into powdered milk, cheese, butter and other products for export. Conaprole operates in dozens of markets. The cooperative has identified the sale of the additional production as a central commercial issue alongside the investment required at its plants.

Algeria has resumed buying after several months of difficulties with import licences. Valdés recently described the country as “hyperactive”, and Conaprole said Algeria was offering some of the strongest international prices at present. Brazil remains a strategic destination for the cooperative. The company’s reported intake growth has increased the importance of maintaining several foreign buyers rather than relying on one or two markets. Against that backdrop, October’s 7% rise represents continued growth, while the 12.5% increase over the latest rolling year shows that available milk volumes remain substantially above last year’s level.
