The Ministry of Agrarian Development of the Province of Buenos Aires, under the leadership of Javier Rodríguez, actively participated in the recent Federal Dairy Council meeting during Expo Rural 2024. At this key industry event, Carla Seain, the Undersecretary of Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries, showcased the strategic public policies and provincial financing initiatives designed to fortify and advance the dairy sector.
Minister Javier Rodríguez underscored the Province's proactive approach amid a challenging national economic environment. "Given the current macroeconomic landscape, Buenos Aires is intensifying its support for the dairy industry through targeted actions and financial instruments. Our focus is on strengthening the sector, assisting drought-impacted producers, promoting value-added processes, and fostering sustainable production practices," he stated.
During the Federal Dairy Council, the Ministry conducted a comprehensive analysis of the dairy industry's status within the province and detailed its ongoing support measures for dairy producers. These initiatives are aimed at enhancing the sector's resilience and growth.
Key among the Ministry's offerings is a zero-interest product-value financing line, tailored specifically for dairy producers. This line facilitates investments in forage crops, pastures, bales, balanced feed, and various forage types to support animal nutrition. Additionally, it covers investments in shading structures and water efficiency technologies.
In collaboration with Banco Provincia, the Ministry extends the Provincia Microcredits program, providing accessible financing for investment projects and working capital. Further financial products include a line dedicated to Effluent Treatment and a Sustainable Agro line for biodigester implementation, which optimizes production waste management. These credit lines, featuring subsidized interest rates, are available to small and medium-sized producers.
The Ministry also organizes reverse trade missions to bolster the commercialization of Buenos Aires dairy products in both domestic and international markets. Furthermore, it administers the provincial Good Dairy Practices program, offering targeted training, trials, and specialized financing options to producers.
Through the Rural Roads Improvement program, 4,500 kilometers of roads have been refurbished and upgraded across 110 municipalities, directly benefiting 350 dairy farms throughout the province.
The Federal Dairy Council meeting saw the participation of National Director of Dairy, Sebastián Alconada, along with representatives from Buenos Aires, La Pampa, and Santa Fe provinces. Carla Seain, accompanied by Agustina Llanos, Director of Dairy, represented the Buenos Aires Ministry.
