Argentina Leads Global Superfood Industry with Unique Production Plant

Argentina has positioned itself as a pioneer in the industrialization of a globally cultivated superfood, thanks to the efforts of Equslac, a company founded by Pablo Talano, Jorge Muract, and Luis Losinno. This enterprise is leading the production of donkey milk, a product highly valued in international markets like China and Italy as a medicinal food.
Starting with an investment of US$ 120,000 in 2021, Equslac's project was developed in collaboration with prestigious universities, creating an ecosystem to industrialize donkey milk. Today, they operate with 300 donkeys, producing around 1,000 liters of milk per month, and generating a revenue of $300 million. The company aims to double its production and expand its market through franchising.
The cost per liter of donkey milk in Argentina is approximately $25, making it six times more expensive than traditional cow milk. However, its niche market caters to children and the elderly suffering from Cow's Milk Protein Allergy (APLV), with a potential market of 20,000 children in the country. Equslac’s plans for expansion include exporting lyophilized milk powder to Colombia and the United States.
