The country's dairy industry has grappled with suboptimal SNF levels, primarily attributed to insufficient protein and energy in the diet provided to dairy animals, as revealed by a comprehensive study conducted by the milk union. To tackle this challenge, Amul Dairy implemented a project deploying 3,000 machines across villages in its milk shed area.

Amit Vyas, Managing Director of Amul Dairy, explained, "Through a specialized software, we began furnishing dairy farmers with detailed information regarding the fat and SNF content. This initiative allowed us to identify the root causes of low SNF content in dairy animals."

Vyas highlighted three main contributors to low SNF content, namely the adulteration of milk with water, subclinical mastitis impacting milk production, and the absence of a nutrient-rich diet containing essential vitamins and minerals.

Anticipating the upcoming summer season, Amul Dairy's Chairman, Vipul Patel, along with other board members, launched "Amul SNF Vriddhi" as a feed supplement. This innovative solution aims to not only enhance milk yield but also improve fat and SNF content for dairy farmers, providing a significant boost to the overall quality of milk production.
