Ahome Authorities Invite Livestock Farmers to Free Good-Practice Training
Agricultural authorities and livestock associations in Ahome have invited the municipality’s producers to attend a series of free training sessions on Buenas Prácticas Pecuarias, or Good Livestock Practices. The initiative applies to livestock operations in northern Sinaloa and is designed to provide updated technical methods for standardising work on ranches and at stables.
The sessions will address hygiene procedures for animal handling and milking, along with measures to prevent and control infectious diseases. Brucellosis and bovine tuberculosis are among the conditions listed in the programme. Training will also cover the careful use of veterinary medicines and antibiotics, the keeping of production records, and livestock traceability under Mexico’s official standards.
For dairy and dual-purpose farms, the programme will focus on practices affecting the physical, chemical and microbiological quality of raw milk. These include cleaning and disinfecting milking equipment, early identification of clinical and subclinical mastitis, and maintaining the cold chain. The organisers present these measures as part of the requirements for reducing bacterial contamination and preserving milk quality before delivery to processors and formal cheesemakers.
The initiative also includes instruction in zootechnical management and biosecurity within production units. Its stated aims include improving animal health and enabling producers to add commercial value to their output. The training is being offered through a livestock extension programme involving sector organisations and rural-development agencies.
The free provision is directed in particular at small and medium-sized producers in the municipality. The source describes these farms as facing higher costs for forage and balanced feed, as well as the accumulated effects of droughts in north-western Mexico. The programme includes nutrition, feed conversion and preventive health measures among the areas intended to improve farm management.
According to the organisers, the training is part of efforts to reinforce Sinaloa’s zoosanitary status and support compliance with formal market requirements. The initiative is also presented as a way to strengthen local food safety and the participation of livestock producers in structured commercial channels.
