According to Kazakhstan's customs statistics, from January to September 2025, the Russian Federation significantly reduced its import of butter from the republic, showing a 2.5-fold decrease compared to the same period last year. These purchases cost Russia 10.6 million USD.
Despite the significant reduction in volumes, Russia still remains the largest importer of Kazakh butter, consuming 97.8% of the republic's total export in this product category.
Negative trends are also observed in the cheese and cottage cheese segment: the import volume of these products to Russia decreased by 11.3% during the reporting period, amounting to 4.8 million USD.
However, the situation in other dairy categories looks different. The import of condensed milk and cream in monetary terms increased nearly fourfold, reaching 7.4 million USD. A positive trend was also shown in fermented dairy products (buttermilk, kefir, yogurts), which saw a 1.5-fold increase in imports, with the total purchase volume being 4.2 million USD.
