Agtech start-up Aimer Farming is revolutionising dairy management with its new 'Aimer Vision' platform. First launched in 2022 as New Zealand’s ‘Siri for farmers’, Aimer now introduces advanced vision AI to assess pasture cover with high accuracy. Over 170 farms in NZ and AU currently use Aimer, and its expansion is fueled by partnerships with companies such as Fonterra Farm Source. The new platform uses machine vision to scan pasture via a smartphone, providing immediate insights that optimise grazing and improve profitability, potentially adding up to $80,000 in annual revenue for average-sized farms.

Formerly available only to sel ect farms, Aimer Vision’s comprehensive launch follows rigorous testing, with data collected fr om 15,000 video scans to refine its algorithms. This development is set to transform New Zealand’s $20 billion dairy sector by enabling precise pasture measurement and aiding in management automation.

Founder Jeremy Bryant highlights the simplicity and accessibility of Aimer Vision, emphasizing its role in addressing labour shortages by requiring no specialized skills for its use. The tool not only measures and predicts pasture growth but also creates a 'digital twin' of farm paddocks, offering actionable insights for efficiency and sustainability.

The significance of Aimer Vision extends globally, as it builds the world’s largest pasture productivity database, promising to aid food corporations in measuring sustainability, and suppliers in assessing product efficacy. As a key player in the global dairy market, New Zealand could leverage Aimer Vision to uphold its competitive edge amidst rising operational challenges.
