In 2023, more than 1 million head of cattle grazed on pastures in Kyrgyzstan

In 2023, the volume of livestock grazing on pastures in Kyrgyzstan amounted to more than 1 million heads of cattle, 4 million heads of small cattle and more than 400 thousand heads of horses, said Deputy Director of the Department of Pastures and Livestock Breeding Maksatbek Mamytbekov.

According to him, pasture committees collected 224 million soms for the use of pastures in 2023.
“The funds raised are aimed at improving the infrastructure of the republic’s pastures, and more precisely at the modernization and construction of roads and bridges. In particular, 5.5 thousand km of roads, 205 bridges and 154 watering places have been modernized,” he said.
The speaker also said that for 2023-2024, the Ministry of Agriculture of Kyrgyzstan purchased 99.5 thousand tons of Russian-made pasture grass mixture seeds. 94.5 thousand tons of pasture grass seeds were purchased for sowing and 5 thousand tons of seeds for the development of pasture seed production.
