Despite challenging wartime conditions, rising production costs, and the energy crisis, industrial farms continue to focus on improving animal productivity, and ensuring the quality and safety of raw milk.
According to estimates by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, in the first half of 2024, 2.9184 million tonnes of raw milk were delivered to processing plants, representing a 7% increase compared to January-June 2023. It is important to note that this increase in processing volumes was driven by a rise in raw milk supplies from the industrial sector, reaching 1.4874 million tonnes (+11%).
At the same time, raw milk supplies from household farms decreased to 125.4 thousand tonnes (-34%) in January-June 2024. The volume of milk provided on a tolling basis decreased to 16.1 thousand tonnes (-33%), and the volume of self-produced milk delivered for processing decreased to 3.1 thousand tonnes (-3%) compared to the first half of 2023.
As a result, the share of industrial milk in the overall supply structure reached 91.14%, which is 3.83% higher compared to January-June 2023.
The volume of extra-grade raw milk reached 883.82 thousand tonnes, 20% more than last year. The share of extra-grade milk amounted to 54.8% of the total raw milk supplied for processing in the first half of 2024, which is 7% higher compared to the same period last year.
