In a move to support dairy farmers, the Ernakulam Regional Cooperative Milk Producers' Union has declared an additional payment of ₹10 per litre of milk to dairy societies in March.

This decision, effective from March 1 to 31, aims to benefit farmers associated with over 1,000 milk societies across Ernakulam, Thrissur, Kottayam, and Idukki districts in Kerala.
In February, the regional milk union had already provided an extra ₹7 for each litre of procured milk, with ₹5 directed to the farmers and ₹2 to the primary dairy society. For March, an additional ₹6 will be allocated to farmers, while ₹4 will go to dairy societies. The regional society anticipates an expenditure of ₹16 crore due to this supplementary payment. With a daily milk procurement of three lakh litres, this initiative aims to enhance the financial well-being of dairy farmers in the region.
