A Chinese delegation of veterinary specialists has been conducting an audit of the Kazakh veterinary system since December 17. Having visited a number of facilities, the experts were satisfied with the level of development of the veterinary service.
According to the press service of the Veterinary Control and Supervision Committee, the Chinese partners visited the Republican Anti-Epizootic Squad, the Republican Veterinary Laboratory, and the National Veterinary Reference Center. The delegation also got acquainted with the work of the subordinate organizations of the Committee in maintaining the health and safety of animals. The inspection is taking place in Kazakhstan with the aim of opening the Chinese market for Kazakh meat.
As a result, the experts expressed satisfaction with the level of development of the veterinary service in Kazakhstan and noted its compliance with international requirements.
“The country’s veterinary laboratories have modern equipment and qualified personnel. They play an important role in ensuring the health and safety of animals, as well as in protecting the population fr om diseases transmitted from animals to humans,” said a representative of the Chinese delegation.
Previously, livestock experts expressed doubt that China would open its market, since this niche has long been occupied.
“They are just studying, nothing more. Based on the results, they will offer their vaccines and equipment, the construction of laboratories, their treatment protocols, personnel training, and so on. But the borders will not be opened,” the President of the National Union of Agricultural Cooperatives of Kazakhstan, Myrzakhmet Uksikbaev, commented to us.
“They are just biding their time and coming to always be greeted at the highest level. They will never buy ours at a high price. It is a big mistake for our officials and businessmen to make big plans for China and Russia. These markets are unstable both politically and economically. There is simply one way out: with countries like China, close the import and transit of their food products, then they will immediately open their borders. And our officials should travel less to China,” Zinesh Utegenov said in the comments under our information on Facebook.
“I think China, like Uzbekistan, is more interested in importing live cattle - bulls, in order to fatten them themselves in accordance with veterinary requirements and slaughter them, wh ere everything will be beneficial. Then the meat itself will be much cheaper! So that they themselves can export to us...” - says Nurzhan Abilov.
Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Serik Zhumangarin also left his comment under the conversation: “Let's wait for the results of the visit of GTU specialists. Our minister Saparov will also go to China in January. And we’ll discuss the results.”
