International Dairy Industry Forum to Take Place in Aktau on October 10-11, 2024

On October 10-11, 2024, the International Forum of Dairy Industry Experts, Cheese, and Dairy Product Manufacturers will be held in Aktau, Kazakhstan. Over two days, leading experts and technologists from France, the Netherlands, Italy, Russia, and Kazakhstan will share their knowledge and discuss the latest technologies in the production of functional dairy products, ice cream, and cheese, as reported by Dairynews.today, citing a press release from the event organizers.

Alexandra Grigolova, President of the Kazakhstan Cheese Guild, emphasized that for the first time, the forum will focus primarily on deeply processed dairy products in the Central Asian region.

"The forum’s program is designed to address the key questions of the industry. The cheese market in Kazakhstan is largely dominated by products from Russia and Belarus, but how should local producers respond? How can they compete in this market? What range of products should they offer to consumers? How can they minimize costs using new dairy production technologies? What equipment should be chosen for modernization or launching new production lines? How can processes be adjusted to achieve maximum productivity and profitability?" Grigolova explained.

The main goal of the forum is to serve as a bridge between cheese and dairy product manufacturers and industry specialists who "know how," the organizers said.

A delegation from the International Cheese Guild, led by Guild President Roland Barthélemy, will be attending from France, the Netherlands, and Italy. The delegation will include experts with extensive experience in the dairy and cheese-making industries. Over the course of two days, they will share their knowledge and experience, fostering international connections and contacts.

The forum's sessions and topics will cover not only cheese but also efficient dairy farming, modern functional dairy products, products made from "alternative" milk, as well as ice cream.

The event will bring together dairy technologists, equipment manufacturers, suppliers and developers of starter cultures and components, scientists, cheesemakers, marketers, government representatives, and specialists from Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, and Russia.

According to the press release, 2024 is also a significant year for cheese producers. For the first time in Central Asia, the international competition CHEESE OPEN 2024 will be held, with participants already confirmed from Kazakhstan, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, France, the Netherlands, Algeria, Australia, Belarus, Azerbaijan, and Georgia. This competition serves as a qualifying round for the World Championship and the MONDIAL DU FROMAGE 2025 World Cheese Salon, which will take place in France in September 2025.

A panel of qualified international judges, led by Roland Barthélemy, President of the International Cheese Guild, and Laurent Dubois, the head of the jury, will determine the three main trophies: the Grand Prix "Champion of Cheese Open 2024," "Best Cheese of Kazakhstan 2024," and a special prize for dairy plants, "Best Industrially Produced Cheese." Additionally, bronze, silver, and gold medals will be awarded in each cheese category. This is a unique opportunity for all cheese producers, from artisans to large factories, to showcase their professionalism and product quality. The top 10 ranking participants in the competition will have the right to represent their countries at the world championship. All samples that pass the expert evaluation will receive a rating sheet with scores based on key criteria and recommendations from the jury members to apply in future work.
