As the curtains closed on the IDFA Dairy Forum, the IDFA Foundation embarked on a compassionate mission, delivering nourishing dairy foods to families facing food insecurity in Arizona.
In recent weeks, the IDFA Foundation, in collaboration with various IDFA dairy processing members and food retailers, orchestrated a substantial donation effort, contributing over 33,000 pounds of nutritious milk and dairy products, along with a generous $15,000 in financial support to St. Mary’s Food Bank in Phoenix, aiming to combat hunger in Arizona. Notable contributions of wholesome milk, cheese, and yogurt were provided by The Kroger Co., Diversified Foods, Inc., and Lactalis USA. Furthermore, the Albertsons Companies Foundation and Schreiber Foods Inc. partnered with the IDFA Foundation, collectively making a financial contribution of $15,000 to St. Mary’s. These combined efforts will furnish over 72,000 meals for food insecure families across Phoenix and nine Arizona counties.
Milton Liu, President and CEO of St. Mary’s Food Bank, expressed gratitude, noting, “Dairy items are high on the list of needs for our neighbors and are often challenging for food banks to obtain through donations. Alongside the monetary gift from the IDFA Foundation and its partners, which will enable us to distribute enough food for 45,000 meals throughout Arizona, the shelf-stable milk, yogurt, cheese, and other high-nutritional dairy items will be well received by those we serve. Huge thanks to IDFA Foundation for reaching out to help struggling Arizonans.”
Even after the conclusion of the IDFA Dairy Forum event in Phoenix, the IDFA Foundation is actively coordinating additional donations of milk, yogurt, cheese, and other nutritious dairy foods to St. Mary’s Food Bank. This initiative not only aims to prevent food waste but also underscores the ongoing commitment to address the nutritional needs of Arizonans in need.
