The European Commission has sanctioned the acquisition of the Dairy Food Group by the Netherlands-based Royal A-ware.

The European Commission has given the nod to the Netherlands-based dairy giant Royal A-ware for its acquisition of a Belgian dairy firm, Dairy Food Group (DFG), under the EU Merger Regulation. Royal A-ware, known in Ireland for its joint venture in the Kilkenny Cheese Ltd plant, is expanding its reach within Belgium's dairy sector.
The Commission confirmed the merger poses no significant competition concerns.
The purchase involves not just DFG but also subsidiaries like Belgian Milk Company, Eurodesserts, Limelco, Incopack, and Incorock. Jan Anker, CEO of Royal A-ware, expressed optimism about optimizing milk processing and expanding product offerings.
Meanwhile, Dairy Food Group anticipates accelerated sustainability and job growth, aligning with Royal A-ware's values as a family business.
