Danone has enhanced its leadership in research and innovation by appointing Carla Hilhorst as the Senior Vice President of Research and Innovation Categories and Zones. This strategic move is part of the company's effort to place science at the core of its business operations.
With over 30 years of experience in research and innovation, Hilhorst is set to report to Isabelle Esser, Danone's Chief Research, Innovation, Quality and Food Safety Officer. In her newly created role, Hilhorst will be instrumental in advancing the group's R&I strategy, which aims to deepen the understanding of consumer and patient needs, propel medical and nutritional science forward, and improve product development and sustainable growth.

Hilhorst transitions to Danone fr om Unilever, wh ere she served as the Chief R&D Officer of the Nutrition Business Group, responsible for crafting global R&I programs.
This appointment underscores Danone's renewed focus under CEO Antoine de Saint-Affrique to bolster its research and innovation capabilities. At the recent Capital Markets Event in June, Danone highlighted its commitment to integrating science into its business model.
