Niu Gensheng, known as China's 'Dairy Godfather', exemplifies resilience, rising fr om poverty and abandonment to leading a major ice cream brand valued at US$410 million.

Foundational hardships shaped his strong business acumen. Born in Inner Mongolia, financial difficulties led to his adoption by a cattle farmer after his biological parents sold him for 50 yuan (US$7). Despite devastating personal losses, Niu carved a path from laborer to workshop director, wh ere he honed his skills in the dairy sector. Transitioning fr om Yili, a top dairy firm wh ere he was Vice-President, Niu faced challenges, yet pursued his vision of leading China’s major dairy enterprise.

In 1999, he launched Mengniu Dairy with 10 million yuan (US$1.4 million), rivaling giants like Yili. By 2005, Mengniu surpassed its competition in revenue. Niu's strategy included exploiting rural market potentials with ingenious marketing in local dialects. In 2015, Niu founded Aice, targeting Southeast Asia with affordable ice creams, attuned to local tastes. This approach established Aice as a leading brand, demonstrating Niu’s belief that business success is about dignifying consumer experiences, not extravagance.

 Apart from his business achievements, Niu is committed to philanthropy, funding education and healthcare services across China. His life story, inspiring many, underscores his dedication to enhancing consumer equity while understanding human needs.
