Binggrae Targets European Market with Dairy-Free Melona Ice Bars Following Triple Sales Growth

Facing high non-tariff barriers for dairy imports in regions like Australia, Canada, and Europe, Binggrae reformulated Melona’s recipe by substituting oats for skimmed milk while retaining the original flavor. The revamped product is intended exclusively for export, with initial launches in Australia and Europe.

In the first half of 2024, sales of plant-based Melona in Europe tripled compared to the previous year, according to Mail Business Newspaper. The product has gained significant traction in Dutch supermarket chain Albert Heijn and Asian markets in Germany and the Netherlands. The company also plans to introduce the Melona pack with melon, mango, and coconut flavors in Costco Australia by year-end.

Binggrae plans to expand its plant-based Melona lineup across Europe, leveraging its success in the US market. The company aims to introduce new flavors tailored to local preferences and accelerate its market penetration in Europe. Binggrae will showcase the plant-based Melona at SIAL 2024 in Paris this October, further solidifying its presence in the global market.
