Titled "Feeding Infants and Toddlers: Highlighting Hispanic Heritage Foods," this resource is a collaborative effort, developed with $10,000 in project funding from the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO), under the Reducing Breastfeeding Disparities through Continuity of Care project, funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The Dairy Council of California, recognized as a leader in nutrition education and advocacy, took the lead in coordinating the development of this crucial resource by collaborating with dietitians and nutritionists who specialize in working with the Hispanic community.

Harumi Reis-Reilly, lead program analyst at NACCHO, expresses excitement about unveiling tailored, evidence-based dietary recommendations that more accurately reflect the preferences of Hispanic communities. The resource integrates age-appropriate traditional foods, familiar spices, and beloved nutritious meals. Reis-Reilly emphasizes the significance of collaboratively developing culturally responsive materials to meet the diverse needs of families across the United States.

Dairy Council of California CEO Amy DeLisio highlights the organization's commitment to addressing the unique nutritional needs of children, particularly during the critical growth and development period of the first 1,000 days of life, from conception to age 2 years. DeLisio notes that the resource provides an actionable way to better reach families with culturally tailored nutrition materials that are both relevant and relatable. The community's feedback on the resource has been overwhelmingly positive.
