The Secretariat of Rural Development (SDR) is a governmental organization based in Chihuahua, Mexico, focused on agricultural and rural development. A recent significant event for the SDR was the confirmation of the first case of Cattle Screwworm in the region.
Significant Events
The SDR, in collaboration with the National Service of Health, Safety and Agri-Food Quality (Senasica), confirmed the presence of Cattle Screwworm in an eight-day-old calf. This prompted the activation of sanitary emergency protocols to contain the outbreak. Mauro Parada Muñoz, the head of the SDR, has estimated a critical period of 15 days to manage and contain this outbreak effectively.
