Dakshina Kannada Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union Ltd (DKMUL)
The Dakshina Kannada Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union Ltd, commonly known as DKMUL, is a significant player in the dairy industry. It operates with a focus on supporting milk producers and ensuring stable milk procurement, especially during challenging periods.
Financial Incentive for Milk Producers
DKMUL has implemented a strategic incentive plan to support its milk producers. From February 21 to May 31, 2026, the union offers an additional ₹1 per litre of milk as an incentive. This initiative is projected to cost DKMUL approximately ₹4.1 lakh per day, totaling nearly ₹4 crore over the entire period.
This incentive is designed to complement an existing quality bonus of ₹1.5 per litre for milk that meets specific fat and SNF (Solid-not-Fat) benchmarks. Consequently, the effective price for high-quality milk is ₹41.7 per litre. This move aims to support farmer welfare while maintaining the financial sustainability of the union.
Strategic Objectives
The incentive initiative by DKMUL seeks to stabilize milk procurement during the summer months, a period typically challenging for milk production. By offering financial incentives, the union aims to ensure a steady supply of milk, benefiting both the farmers and the cooperative as a whole.
