Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin was born on October 7, 1952, in Leningrad (now Saint Petersburg), Russia. He began his career as a KGB intelligence officer before transitioning to politics in the late 1990s. Initially appointed as Prime Minister in 1999 under President Boris Yeltsin, Putin briefly became Acting President following Yeltsin's resignation later that year. He won the presidential election in 2000 and served two consecutive terms until 2008, when he returned to the role of Prime Minister due to constitutional term limits. In 2012, Putin was re-elected as President and has held the office since, exerting significant influence over both Russian and global politics.
