Nikol Pashinyan
Position: Prime Minister of Armenia
Biography: Nikol Pashinyan was born on June 1, 1975, in Ijevan, Armenian SSR, Soviet Union. He attended the Yerevan State University where he studied journalism, but was later expelled for his political activities. He then embarked on a career in journalism, becoming the editor of the daily newspaper 'Haykakan Zhamanak' (The Armenian Times) in 1999. Pashinyan has been an outspoken critic of the Armenian government and was actively involved in the political opposition for many years.

Important Events:
- In 2008, Pashinyan played a significant role in the post-election protests against alleged electoral fraud, which escalated into violent clashes. As a result, he went into hiding and was sentenced in absentia to seven years in prison. However, he surrendered to authorities in 2009 and was released in 2011 under a general amnesty.
- In 2018, Pashinyan led the 'Velvet Revolution' which resulted in the resignation of then-Prime Minister Serzh Sargsyan. Subsequently, Pashinyan was elected as Prime Minister by the National Assembly on May 8, 2018.
- During his tenure as Prime Minister, Pashinyan has focused on fighting corruption, reforming the judicial system, and improving the economy. He has also been involved in ongoing negotiations regarding the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
- As of the current year, Pashinyan continues to lead Armenia, emphasizing the importance of national discussions and legislative approval for key governmental changes and reforms.
