Biography

Lee Zeldin was born on January 30, 1980, in East Meadow, New York. He grew up in Suffolk County, Long Island, and attended William Floyd High School. Zeldin pursued his higher education at the State University of New York at Albany, where he earned a degree in Political Science. He later received his Juris Doctor from Albany Law School.

Before entering politics, Zeldin served in the U.S. Army from 2003 to 2007, which included a tour in Iraq as part of the 82nd Airborne Division. Following his military service, he worked as an attorney in New York.

Zeldin was elected to the New York State Senate in 2010, representing the 3rd district. In 2014, he was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, where he served New York's 1st congressional district until 2023. During his time in Congress, Zeldin was known for his work on veterans' affairs, foreign policy, and national security issues.
