Biography
Katherine Chi Tai was born on March 18, 1974, in Connecticut. She earned her undergraduate degree from Yale University and her Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Harvard Law School. She worked in various capacities within the U.S. Trade Representative's (USTR) office and the House Ways and Means Committee before being nominated by President Joe Biden as the U.S. Trade Representative in December 2020. Tai was confirmed by the Senate and took office on March 18, 2021.
