Shepherds Purse, a family-operated enterprise located near Thirsk in North Yorkshire, has established itself as a prominent player in the dairy industry, particularly in cheese production. Award-Winning Creations

At this year’s Cheese & Dairy Show, Shepherds Purse distinguished itself by winning multiple top prizes, underscoring its commitment to excellence in cheese making. A highlight of the event was the company’s Organic Yorkshire Blue cheese, which won the esteemed Judy Bell Memorial Trophy for Supreme Champion Cheese. This marked the second occasion that this particular cheese has received such a distinguished honor, further cementing its reputation.

Distribution and Product Range

Shepherds Purse, the independent cheesemaker, has secured wider distribution for two of its blue cheeses at Morrisons. The company produces ten handcrafted cheeses using milk from cows, organically farmed cows, sheep, and water buffalo. Its products have received awards in national and international competitions and are also sold through supermarkets including M&S, Waitrose, and Booths.

Heritage and Management

Shepherds Purse was founded by Judy Bell MBE in the 1980s and is now managed by her daughters, Caroline Bell and Katie Matten. Under their leadership, the company continues to thrive and expand its reach in the dairy market.
